Picture of prolarvae stage Day 1.5.
The development of the prolarvae stage is very rapid!
The egg yolk is nearly all used up. In this picture there are two white spot on the frontal region of the larvae.  It will develop into its eye.  There is no pigment yet.  The external and internal pigment is already observe in some of the larvae but not on this one.  The pigment is black in color.

The video of this fish

The critical part of preflexion period after prolarvae stage is day 3.  I will post the pictures of day 3 later.  The very first food providing is utmost important.  Many breeder fail after day 3. The larvae died due to starvation.

Below is a picture of day 8 larvae which already pass the day 3 period.. External pigmentation is well present and the eye of the fish can also clearly see.    It well represent the appearance of the larvae at its preflexion period.  The fish is free swimming and capture its prey at its will.  I will fill up all the gap of pictures later.  We can enlarge the picture below to clearly see this fish!

Picture of post hatch after 1 day.  It is called prolarvae stage.

The larvae has a tail but no eyes and mouth.  It can move by swinging its tail.

Below are a video of a group of day 1 just hatched larvae before dispersal

Red bar anthia's eggs

The fertilized eggs is either floating or semi-floating.  Usually the unfertilised eggs will sink to the bottom of the tank.  Fertilized eggs are transparent while unfertilized eggs will gradually turn to opaque.  below are two pictures showing that the one row of fertilized egg along the surface line of the water.  The first picture with flash open while the second one without flash.

The fertilized egg will rapidly change to prolarvae stage.  After 12 hours(before hatch) the appearance of the egg will become a line surround a transparent sphere.  The line will become the tail of the prolarvae.

Pseudanthias fasciatus (Red Bar anthias)

The red bar anthias inside one of my tank has started to breed since July of 2014.  Therefore, I think that it is the time to record down all the things as marine fish breeding is my dream.

Here is a link to a video showing the spawning behavior of my Red Bar anthias pair .

The anthias pair spawn everyday.  Two to Three spawning is observed daily.  Sometimes I can collect hundreds of eggs daily by filter the tank water.
